No. 1 Customer Choice! Our most popular tour! Discover the ancient Roman city and the Vulcano which destroyed it!

Departure from the hotel by de-luxe motorcoach to Pompeii, the roman city buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 a.D. Visit to the archaeological site: With its excavated area, extending for approximately 44 ha, and the preservation state of its buildings, due to the particular burial (under a blanket of 6 meter of ash and rock) caused by the eruption of the Vesuvius in 79 AD, Pompeii can be considered the only archaelogical site which gives the real image of roman city. Free time for lunch. Departure by bus to Mount Vesuvius up to 1000 meters, then, escorted by a specialized guide, walk to the summit. Mt. Vesuvius is the best known volcano on earth; it dominates the Bay of Naples with its characteristic cone. Pompeii Half Day AM

Written by sunland,
Monday, October 19, 2009 5:24:17 PM

Are you tired from too much touring around? Don't you want to leave for the full day your beautiful hotel on the Amalfi Coast? Express tours fit for you! Half Day discovering the really best of Pompeii, and after the visit back to the hotel! Relaxing and convenient!

Departure from the hotel by de-luxe motorcoach to Pompeii, the roman city buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 a.D. Visit to the archaeological site. Pompeii, as everyone knows, presents a case that is of utmost importance for the study of antiquity, in that it shows us the conditions and contexts of ancient life which were suddenly interrupted in the night between the 24th and 25th of August, 79 AD, when the eruption of Vesuvius buried, under five meters of lapilli and ash, this small city on the Campanian coast. The unexpected end and complete burial of the city with all its furnishings, its inhabitants, and its activities conserved a patrimony of knowledge which we have been exploring for two and a half centuries. From 1748 to today, continual campaigns of excavation have brought to light new elements of knowledge and an ever growing documentation. Aside from the artistic monuments which are well known to all (the frescoes, statues, tools of metal and other materials), lesser known aspects of life have been revealed to us: for example, the grass cut the day before the eruption, the food, the animals, and many other things that are not usually preserved in the archaeological world, because life continued and consumed the materials of preceding civilisations. After 2 hours visit return in Hotel, expected in the early afternoon.
